About Mike Howell:
Since getting his kids mostly out on their own, Mike has been enjoying traveling with his wife Beth and learning about wine from places around the world. He enjoys hunting, fishing, and watching Texas A&M sporting events. Mike is a managing partner of West Short & Howell, PLLC which is a boutique commercial litigation firm based in Georgetown.
Why CASA is important to Mike:
"Kids are challenging enough when they have loving parents with adequate resources. Foster kids can be at a disadvantage without the stability of their family. A kid in need is going to latch on to something that cares or perceived to care about them. The CASA leadership is committed to training caring volunteers to do a lot of the things kids parents would do. I used to think the organization was just showing up in court for kids. I now know that the volunteers mentor kids and are involved for important days for the kids lives like doctor appointments, school meetings, and hopefully reintegration with their family. Having a stable caring adult can help the kiddos be the adults we all know that they can be with helpful guidance."

Wine Women & Shoes Williamson County is an engaging and exciting fundraising event where community-minded, philanthropic women (and a few good men) gather to sip, shop, savor, and support CASA of Wiliamson County in a chic, fun, and innovative way. Join me at this year's event at HighPointe Estate in Liberty Hill on September 26, 2026 from 11:00-3:00PM. Learn more here.
WHAT IS A SOLE MAN?
Our fabulous Sole Men play a hugely important role in Wine Women & Shoes, and we can’t imagine doing it without them. The Sole Men will have the opportunity to host the lovely ladies ready to sip, shop and support, all to benefit CASA of Williamson County. The Sole Men are in charge of greeting and escorting guests to the Marketplace, supporting wine service from sip-sational wine partners, presenting designer goodies on silver platters, selling entry tickets for Key to the Closet and bottles from Wall of Wine, promoting auction lots, and—most importantly—making every guest feel special. They often play key roles before the event, as well, by spreading the word to friends and colleagues, and competing for the coveted “King of Sole” crown through peer-to-peer fundraising.
